Common Core Speaking

Please note that all goals are based on Speaking and Listening components of the ELA standards. These goals are general and based on the standards for each grade. They are not targeted to specific students. They need to be tailored to specific needs of the individual client in order to be appropriate for use.

The main idea of this concept is that these are skills that build upon the foundation of the previous year(s) of education all the way back to what is started in kindergarten/pre-K. The rate of goal mastery depends on the individual student and his/her needs.

  1. thank you so much, this looks fabulous! Will you be doing this for sixth grade as well (not to sound selfish, but my elementary school goes to 6th grade), and I'm sure the middle school/high school people out there will want this as well.

    1. I haven't decided if I will do the upper grades or not. Right now, I am working on math standards and relating those to speech. It's a time consuming process to make them. It's also a question of experience and I don't have any experience with the high school population. I worked with middle school students for one semester so I feel a bit more willing to try to write goals for them than the high school.

    3. If you are a fan of my page on facebook, you can get the first middle school goal bank that I've created. I have two more goal banks to go for those grade levels, but I have to focus on getting things done for work before I can start up on those.

  5. Thank you for providing this resource for free. I have used the Miss Thrifty SLP site dozens of times this school year to write and review speech/language goals for IEPs. You are the BEST! I thank you, and my students thank you!
